Job Description Appian Tester (QA Automation & Functional Testing Specialist)
Role Overview
The Appian Tester will ensure functional accuracy, workflow integrity, integration reliability, and performance quality of Appian applications supporting enterprise case management, workflow automation, and digital services delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Functional and Process Testing
- Develop and execute test strategies, test plans, and detailed test cases for Appian process models, interfaces, and integrations.
- Validate end-to-end workflow orchestration, business rules execution, decision tables, and exception handling scenarios.
Automation and Performance Testing
- Implement test automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or Appian FitNesse plugins where applicable.
- Conduct load testing and stress testing to validate application scalability and response time benchmarks.
Integration and Data Validation
- Test integrations with REST/SOAP APIs, RPA bots, document management systems, and external data sources.
- Perform data reconciliation and workflow audit validation ensuring transaction accuracy and compliance requirements.
Quality Governance and Metrics
- Track defect lifecycle in Jira or Azure DevOps, ensuring closure within defined SLAs.
- Maintain quality KPIs such as:
- Defect leakage < 2%
- Test automation coverage 60%
- UAT acceptance rate 98%
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 5+ years in software testing with 2+ years testing Appian BPM applications.
- Strong knowledge of Agile QA methodologies, DevSecOps pipelines, and CI/CD validation practices.
Tools & Technologies
Appian Testing Frameworks, Selenium, Cypress, JMeter, Postman, Jira, SonarQube, Git-based CI/CD pipelines.
