Role

B2B Technology is seeking a Senior SharePoint Online Architect to lead the design and build of a SharePoint Online Hub-based intranet for a State of Minnesota client. This is a hands-on architect role, not an oversight role. You will own the technical build from configuration through acceptance and train client staff to maintain it after handoff.

Responsibilities

  • Design and configure a SharePoint Online Hub site and associated team/communication sites
  • Implement content types, site columns, and metadata schemas defined in collaboration with a content strategist
  • Configure and tune SharePoint Search, including managed properties, refiners, result sources, and relevance
  • Build Power Automate flows for content review reminders, intake/change request tracking, and calendar-linked deadline notifications
  • Configure basic reporting and analytics for usage, search effectiveness, and system health
  • Support content migration from legacy sites and shared drives, including metadata application and validation
  • Produce administrator documentation and deliver admin training (virtual or in person)
  • Coordinate with client project leadership and State IT for access, permissions, and tenant configuration

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years hands-on SharePoint Online configuration and administration in enterprise or government environments
  • Demonstrated experience designing and deploying SharePoint Hub sites and information architecture at the division or agency level
  • Strong working knowledge of M365 governance, permissions, sensitivity labels, and records management
  • Power Automate flow development experience, including approval and notification patterns
  • SharePoint Search configuration and tuning experience (managed properties, refiners, relevance)
  • Experience with content migration tools and approaches (ShareGate, Metalogix, or native)
  • Ability to produce clear administrator documentation and deliver training to non-technical staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work directly with client stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior State of Minnesota, MNIT, or other public sector SharePoint experience
  • Experience aligning SharePoint deployments with WCAG accessibility standards and plain-language guidance
  • Power BI experience for SharePoint usage dashboards
  • Microsoft certifications (MS-203, MS-700, or equivalent SharePoint/M365 credentials)

Logistics

  • Remote with occasional Twin Cities metro meetings
  • Must be able to pass State of Minnesota background and vendor onboarding requirements
  • Must work in U.S. time zones, Central preferred
