Lex Support Engineer (JAVA and Linux)

Job Title: Lex Support Engineer (Java & Linux):

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Lex Support Engineer with strong experience in Java application support and Linux system environments. The ideal candidate will provide technical assistance, troubleshoot application issues, collaborate with development and operations teams, and help ensure reliable performance of Java-based systems running on Linux platforms. This position requires problem-solving skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to work in a fast-paced support environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Support & Troubleshooting:

• Provide level 2/level 3 technical support for Java-based applications in production and pre-production environments.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve complex issues related to application behavior, performance, or failures.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective measures for recurring issues.
• Collaborate with developers and QA teams to diagnose defects and verify fixes before release.

Linux System Support:

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers supporting Java applications.
• Troubleshoot OS-level problems, monitor system health, and optimize performance.
• Use shell scripting (Bash or similar) to automate support tasks and operational activities.

Documentation & Process

• Document incident resolutions, known issues, and standard operating procedures.
• Contribute to internal knowledge bases and runbooks to streamline support processes.
• Support configuration management, deployment checks, and environment setup documentation.

Collaboration & Escalation

• Work closely with cross-functional teams including software development, DevOps, QA, and infrastructure.
• Escalate critical issues to senior engineers or third-party vendors as required.
• Provide regular updates on incident status and resolution timelines to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java, including debugging and problem analysis.
• Solid understanding of Linux operating systems, command-line tools, and system administration.
• Experience with shell scripting (e.g., Bash).
• Familiarity with application support best practices, including incident handling and RCA.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced support environment with multiple stakeholders.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):

• Familiarity with application servers (e.g., Tomcat, JBoss).
• Experience with RDBMS / SQL databases (Oracle, MySQL, etc.).
• Knowledge of monitoring tools, logs (Splunk, Grafana), or CI/CD pipelines.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) or containerization (Docker).
