DescriptionA Customer Data Platform (CDP) Analytics Engineer is responsible for building and managing data pipelines that integrate customer data from various sources, transform it into usable formats, understand event collections from sites and apps, and activate it in downstream marketing, analytics, and ad tech tools. Here are the key aspects of the role:
1. Data Ingestion & Integration
Ingest data from multiple sources such as Adobe Analytics, Iterable, CRM systems, web tracking, mobile apps, and offline sources.
Implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) or ELT pipelines using tools like Snowflake, and Hightouch.
Work with APIs, webhooks, and batch processes to fetch and load data.
2. Data Modeling & Transformation
Design and optimize data schemas for efficient querying in Snowflake.
Implement data transformations to unify customer profiles across multiple touchpoints.
Develop identity resolution logic to stitch customer data together using unique identifiers (email, device ID, cookie, etc.).
Use SQL-based transformations to clean and enrich data.
3. Data Quality & Governance
Set up data validation checks to monitor accuracy and completeness.
Implement data observability using Snowflake's built-in features.
Manage PII (Personally Identifiable Information) data encryption and masking.
4. Data Activation & Reverse ETL
Use Hightouch to sync data from Snowflake to marketing platforms (Google Ads, Meta, Iterable, Salesforce, etc.).
Build audience segmentation logic to personalize customer experiences.
Automate activation workflows for real-time customer engagement.
6. Collaboration & Stakeholder Communication
Work closely with Product, Analytics and Data Engineering teams
Work with Data Engineering team to Optimize Snowflake queries, storage, and processing costs.
Occasionally work with end users in Marketing and Sales by building self-serve analytics and audience segmentation tools
Document data pipelines, transformations, and best practices.
7. Tooling & Tech Stack
Data Warehouse: Snowflake
ELT and ETL: SQL and Python
Reverse ETL: Hightouch (preferred) or experience with similar tools like Rudderstack, Segment, etc
Analytics & BI: Tableau, Power BI, DOMO
Marketing & Ad Tech Integrations: Nice to have knowledge and exposure.
