We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Junior to Mid-Level IT Technician to support endpoint systems, virtualization environments, and core network infrastructure. This role will provide day-to-day support across Windows, macOS, Linux, and VMware environments, while also assisting with network administration, user support, and infrastructure cleanup initiatives.
This is a highly interactive, onsite support role, where the technician will assist with walk-up user issues, contribute to ongoing infrastructure projects, and help improve operational efficiency through documentation and automation.
The ideal candidate has 2 5 years of IT support experience, is comfortable working across multiple operating systems, and can independently handle routine technical issues while escalating more complex problems as needed.
Key Responsibilities
End-User / Desktop Support (Windows & macOS)
Provide hands-on support for Windows and Mac users, including walk-up and remote assistance
Troubleshoot login issues, including username formatting, domain authentication, and password resets
Support new hire onboarding (laptop setup) and offboarding (device wiping when needed)
Resolve general user issues related to OS, applications, and connectivity
Assist with Apple Connect and certificate-related access issues when applicable
Windows Systems Administration & Active Directory
Install, configure, and maintain Windows 10/11 systems and Windows Server 2016+ environments
Manage Active Directory tasks including:
oUser account support and password resets
oGroup creation, modification, and user access management
Support file share access by creating and maintaining security groups (read/write and read-only)
Assist with auditing and cleaning up group memberships and permissions
File Shares, Storage & Access Management
Support shared storage environments backed by NetApp and Pure Storage
Assist with managing file share access via AD groups and existing workflows
Participate in access audits, ensuring correct user permissions across ~30 file shares
Help remove outdated users and streamline group-based access controls
VMware & Virtualization Support (Basic Administration)
Create, configure, and maintain virtual machines
Perform VM troubleshooting, restarts, and performance checks
Assist with patching Windows/Linux VMs and basic VM recovery
Support ongoing upgrades (Windows Server and VMware versions)
Network Administration & Infrastructure Support
Perform basic network troubleshooting (Layer 1 & Layer 2)
Configure VLANs, IP addressing, and switch-level changes
Support network cleanup initiatives, including:
oAuditing and labeling ~600 700 switch ports
oVerifying connected devices match switch port mappings
Assist with DNS/DHCP tasks and coordinate subnet and naming cleanup efforts
Escalate wireless and VPN issues to IST when required
Automation, Documentation & Process Improvement
Contribute to improving and maintaining documentation and self-service portals
Document workflows for user access, file shares, and common IT procedures
Assist with integrating AD group changes into existing automated workflows
Identify opportunities for automation to reduce manual effort
Help consolidate and improve visibility of existing tools and portals
Project Work & Continuous Improvement
Support ongoing infrastructure and operational projects, including:
oNetwork cleanup and auditing
oWindows automation initiatives
oStorage cleanup and backend optimization
oVMware and OS upgrade projects
Assist with aligning storage environments across clusters and improving backend consistency
Required Skills & Qualifications
2 5 years of IT support or systems technician experience
Strong hands-on experience with:
oWindows desktop and Windows Server environments
oActive Directory (users, groups, permissions)
Working knowledge of:
omacOS support
oLinux systems (Ubuntu, Red Hat)
oVMware (basic administration)
Fundamental networking knowledge (VLANs, IP addressing, switching, L1/L2 troubleshooting)
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, onsite support environment
Strong communication skills with a customer-service mindset
Nice to have Qualifications
Exposure to NetApp, Pure Storage, QNAP, or Synology storage systems
Experience with backup tools (e.g., Veeam)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in enterprise environments
Familiarity with automation workflows or scripting
Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent
Work Environment & Schedule
Initial expectation of 20 hours/week, ramping up to 40 hours/week
Role requires physical presence onsite to support users and infrastructure
