Job Description:


Title: Auto CAD Technician


Type (Contract): 12 months + possible extension/ conversion


Location: Seattle, WA OR Boston, MA (Onsite)


Pay Range: $32/hr - $34/hr


Day to day:



  • Create and maintain precise 2D and 3D factory layouts in AutoCAD, representing mechanical equipment, robotics, and structural elements to scale, ensuring all drawings are clean, accurate, and ready for engineering and simulation use.

  • Collaborate with simulation engineers and project stakeholders to translate conceptual flow models into spatial layouts, aligning physical representations with manufacturing processes and factory trade studies.

  • Integrate supplier CAD files and technical data into unified factory models, validating clearances, utilities, and equipment positioning to support smooth operational flow and construction feasibility.

  • Iterate and refine layouts based on feedback, new data, or changing requirements maintaining version control, file organization, and documentation of design changes to ensure project traceability.

  • Apply sound industrial layout principles and code awareness to check for conflicts, inefficiencies, or safety concerns; propose practical adjustments to improve space utilization and maintain compliance.

  • Operate independently on assigned drafting tasks, managing work through ticket-style deliverables, providing timely updates, and producing high-quality drawings that form the foundation of the factory s buildout.


Must haves:



  • 3 4 years of professional drafting experience (industrial or manufacturing environment preferred).

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and comfort creating detailed, accurate layouts.

  • Ability to interpret equipment specs and translate them into 2D/3D spatial designs.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills; able to work independently and remotely.

  • Familiarity with architectural or structural codes for industrial layouts.

  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally (simulation, engineering, and operations teams).


Plusses:



  • Experience with Visual Components or similar factory simulation tools.

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, Revit, or other 3D modeling software.

  • AutoCAD certification or equivalent professional accreditation.

  • Understanding parametric or modular modeling principles.
