Senior Security Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Security Engineer in Emeryville, CA.

Summary:
The Senior Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving the organization's cybersecurity controls, security infrastructure, and threat defense capabilities. This role serves as a technical leader within the Information Security program, partnering with Infrastructure, Network, Cloud, Application Development, Operations, Compliance, and Business teams to reduce risk and protect company assets. The Senior Security Engineer acts as a subject matter expert in cybersecurity, driving security architecture, incident response, vulnerability management, identity security, cloud security, and regulatory compliance initiatives.

Beyond technical expertise, this individual must bring confidence, sound judgment, and a strong point of view to cybersecurity decisions. They should be comfortable engaging in constructive debate, challenging assumptions, and pushing back when necessary, while remaining collaborative and solutions oriented. Success in this role requires someone who can earn credibility and influence through their knowledge, experience, and ability to clearly articulate recommendations, rather than someone who passively follows direction or relies solely on authority.

REQUIREMENTS:
* 7+ years of progressive Information Security experience
* 5+ years of hands-on Security Engineering experience in a Windows environment
* Experience securing enterprise environments supporting 1,000+ users
* Strong experience with several of the following: Microsoft Sentinel; Microsoft Defender Suite; CrowdStrike; Palo Alto; Cisco Security Solutions; Mimecast (or similar email security platforms); Tenable, Qualys, or Rapid7; PAM solutions
* Strong cloud security experience, preferably within Azure and Microsoft 365
* Hands-on experience with: Incident Response; Vulnerability Management; Security Monitoring
* Ability to assess security posture, identify gaps, and make actionable recommendations
* Comfortable presenting findings and influencing decision-makers

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
