Position Summary & Responsibilities: Position Summary: This Geotech CADD Specialist position is located in Salina, KS, and is within the Bureau of Structures and Geotechnical Services. This position provides technical and operational support to the Geology Section by standardizing bridge sheet preparation, reviewing geologic deliverables for accuracy, and managing key data systems. This position leads efforts to modernize subsurface workflows through 3D modeling platforms, while developing training materials and providing guidance to improve staff proficiency with CADD and geotechnical software.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: - Plans production and milestone deliverables. Develops and configures bridge sheets and associated drawing models within models-based design workflows to support Geology Section deliverables, while maintaining compatibility with bridge design requirements and alignment with project schedules.
- Serve as primary technical resource for geologic modeling within models-based design environments, working with CADD staff, internal staff, and consultants to maintain design standards, update templates and standard cells, and identify opportunities to simplify existing processes.
- Develop and oversee comprehensive training programs for geology staff covering borehole logging systems, models-based design software, subsurface modeling applications, and other tools through the creation of user manuals, written instruction manuals, and video training resources.
- Administer the subsurface draining structure database to support accurate statewide inventory of underdrain and basedrain infrastructure, enabling maintenance crews to record and access current structure status.
- Administer cloud-hosted geoscience platforms used by the Geology Section, including maintenance of libraries, templates, user configurations, and standardized field data collection workflows.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: - Professional geology license recognized by the Kansas Board of Technical Professions.
- 4 years of experience as a licensed geologist.
- Valid Driver's License at time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with CADD programs.
