Job Summary
The Senior Consultant is responsible for leading Disaster Recovery (DR) planning, design, and
execution for enterprise IBM Sterling File Gateway (SFG) environments supporting mission
critical file transfer and B2B integrations. This role ensures platform resiliency, availability, and
recoverability in highly regulated, large-scale environments.
The position requires strong hands-on technical expertise, structured planning capabilities, and the
ability to work across infrastructure, security, and application teams to deliver compliant and
auditable DR solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Disaster Recovery Strategy & Planning
• Design and maintain DR strategies for IBM Sterling File Gateway environments
• Define and validate RTO/RPO requirements aligned with business continuity objectives
• Develop, maintain, and review DR runbooks, procedures, and architecture
documentation
• Identify DR risks, dependencies, and single points of failure; recommend mitigation
strategies
DR Execution & Testing
• Plan and execute DR drills, failover/failback tests, and tabletop exercises
• Coordinate DR activities with infrastructure, network, security, database, and operations
teams
• Validate application recovery, data integrity, certificate availability, and partner connectivity
• Analyze test outcomes and drive continuous improvement actions
IBM Sterling SFG Technical Leadership
• Provide hands-on support for SFG architecture, configuration, and administration
• Ensure DR environments are aligned with production configurations and security standards
• Support upgrades, patching, and fixes with a focus on DR readiness and resiliency
• Troubleshoot complex SFG issues related to availability, performance, and recovery
Governance, Risk & Stakeholder Engagement
• Collaborate with security, compliance, and risk teams to ensure DR alignment with policies
• Support internal and external audits by providing DR documentation and evidence
• Communicate DR plans, risks, and test results to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Promote DR best practices and operational discipline across teams
Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience supporting enterprise middleware or managed file transfer platforms
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with IBM Sterling File Gateway (SFG)
• Strong experience designing and implementing Disaster Recovery and Business
Continuity solutions
• Solid understanding of high availability, clustering, replication, and failover architectures
• Experience working in regulated or highly controlled environments
• Strong documentation, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with IBM Sterling B2B Integrator, MFT, or Secure Proxy (SSP)
• Familiarity with Windows and Unix/Linux operating environments
• Experience supporting DR audits, regulatory reviews, or resiliency assessments
• Prior consulting experience leading cross-functional DR initiatives
