Overview
We are seeking an experienced VMware to Hyper-V Migration Consultant to lead and execute virtualization migration initiatives from VMware environments to Microsoft Hyper-V. The consultant will work closely with infrastructure, networking, and application teams to plan, design, and implement a seamless migration strategy that minimizes downtime and operational risk while optimizing performance and cost. This role requires deep expertise in virtualization technologies, migration tools, infrastructure architecture, and enterprise data center operations. Client is moving 1000+ VM to HyperV
1. Must have 5+ years of experience with enterprise virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
2. Must have prior experience designing & implementing migration strategies to transition workloads from VMware vSphere/ESXi to Microsoft Hyper-V.
a. Assess existing VMware environments including hosts, clusters, storage, networking, and virtual machines.
b. Plan and execute VM conversion, migration, and validation activities.
c. Experience performing VMware to Hyper-V migrations in enterprise environments.
3. Strong knowledge of:
a. Windows Server and Hyper-V
b. Virtual networking and storage
c. Active Directory integration
d. Clustered virtualization environments
4. Experience with migration and automation tools such as Microsoft Virtual Machine Converter (MVMC), System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM), or third-party migration tools.
5. Ensure compatibility and performance of applications and workloads post-migration.
6. Collaborate with infrastructure, security, networking, and application teams throughout the migration lifecycle.
7. Develop migration runbooks, documentation, and rollback procedures.
8. Troubleshoot migration issues including networking, storage, and virtualization performance.
9. Optimize the Hyper-V environment post-migration including clustering, storage, and resource allocation.
10. Provide knowledge transfer and best practices to internal infrastructure teams.
11. Strong pluses include = VMware VCP, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server / Azure Administrator, Microsoft Hyper-V certifications
