Role: SAP Data Engineer
Location: Hybrid or Remote (Springfield Office)
Duration: 6+ months
Rate:Hourly on W2 contract
Key Responsibilities:
• Configure and maintain SAP source connections in SAP Datasphere for both ECC and CRM (ICWEB), including SAP DP Agent + ABAP Adapter setups where applicable.
• Design, build, and operate Replication Flows in Datasphere (Data Builder) — mapping ECC and CRM source objects (transactional tables, BP/interaction data, IC WebClient activity objects) to landing targets.
• Develop and schedule data pipelines (Replication Flows, Data Flows, Remote Tables) supporting both full loads and delta/CDC scenarios into Datasphere, across ECC and CRM sources.
• Enable outbound integration to Microsoft Fabric via premium outbound / mirroring, staging through ADLS Gen2 (Parquet) into OneLake.
• Integrate SAP metadata into Datasphere so that source table structures, field descriptions, and business context are available to downstream consumers, and lineage is traceable from Fabric back to the SAP source.
• Author Transition to Operations (TTO) documentation and sustainment plans for each new pipeline — including ownership, SLAs, monitoring, escalation paths, and known-issue playbooks — so that operational teams can support the solution post go-live.
• Build and maintain runbooks defining the new development process for onboarding SAP sources into Datasphere and Fabric — covering connection setup, pipeline build standards, testing, deployment, and handover — so the process is repeatable across the team.
• Partner with Basis and SAP admins to validate source system prerequisites across ECC and CRM.
• Provide recommendations to optimize Datasphere CU consumption — right-sizing replication flows, tuning delta strategies, scheduling, and object scope to keep capacity usage efficient and cost-effective.
• Monitor replication health, troubleshoot latency and delta queue issues, and remediate failed loads.
• Partner with the NextGen analytics team on medallion layering and downstream consumption patterns in Fabric.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• 3+ years hands-on experience integrating SAP sources (ECC, S/4HANA, and/or CRM) into a cloud data platform.
• Proven experience with SAP Datasphere (or SAP Data Intelligence / DWC) — Replication Flows, Data Flows, Remote Tables, and connection management.
• Familiarity with ODP framework, CDS view extraction, and ODP extractors (RSA5/RSA6, ODQMON).
• Understanding of SAP data models across ECC (including cluster/pool tables such as BSEG) and CRM (business partner, one-order framework, activity/interaction objects, IC WebClient data structures) and CDC concepts.
• Comfortable working with RFC connectivity, Cloud Connector, and secure cross-network integration.
• Strong documentation skills — able to produce clear TTO packages, sustainment plans, and process runbooks that operations teams can pick up and execute.
Nice to Have
• Practical exposure to Microsoft Fabric, ADLS Gen2, Parquet, and OneLake.
• Experience extracting from SAP CRM Interaction Center (ICWEB) — including interaction records, activities, service tickets, and BP relationships.
• Familiarity with SAP Notes navigation (me.sap.com) and reading compatibility matrices.
• Awareness of medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold)
