REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Secret Cleared
DoD 8570 / 8140 compliant certification (IAT Level II required)
Minimum 8 years of experience in cloud architecture, systems engineering, or cybersecurity engineering
Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud architecture and services
Experience with DevSecOps tools and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines)
Experience working in regulated federal or DoD environments
Strong understanding of Active Directory, SAML, and identity federation concepts
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Architect to support a federal cloud program focused on designing, engineering, and optimizing scalable, secure cloud environments. This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for architecting cloud-native solutions, guiding engineering teams, and driving best practices across architecture, deployment, security, and operations.
The ideal candidate brings deep AWS expertise, experience in DevSecOps environments, and a strong understanding of federal compliance frameworks and zero trust principles.
Key Responsibilities
Design and architect scalable, resilient, and secure cloud solutions across AWS environments
Lead engineering efforts across cloud-native architectures and distributed systems
Drive cloud strategy and roadmap development aligned with mission and program objectives
Implement secure cloud architectures aligned with zero trust and defense-in-depth principles
Ensure compliance with federal and industry standards (NIST, DoD Cloud SRG, SOC2, etc.)
Integrate identity and access management solutions and cloud security monitoring frameworks
Manage and optimize AWS services including networking, compute, storage, and platform services
Drive adoption of DevSecOps practices using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, GitLab, Kubernetes, Jira, Confluence, and Artifactory
Support system engineering activities including design, development, testing, and deployment
Troubleshoot and resolve issues across cloud and hybrid environments
Support vulnerability management, security assessments, and remediation efforts
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, security, and product management
Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and design standards
Create reference architectures and reusable cloud design patterns
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience (or Master's with 2+ years; additional experience may substitute for degree)
Active Secret Clearance required
U.S. Citizenship required
DoD IAT Level II certification (Security+ or equivalent)
Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud architecture and services
Experience with DevSecOps tools and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines)
Experience working in regulated federal or DoD environments
Strong understanding of Active Directory, SAML, and identity federation concepts
Excellent communication skills and experience working in customer-facing environments
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting USAF Cloud One or Platform One environments
Experience with Zero Trust Architecture implementations
AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps, or Security Specialty)
Experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments
Familiarity with AWS PaaS and SaaS offerings
Experience with Git/GitLab, Jira, Confluence, and cloud automation tooling
