Role Overview
An opportunity is available for a Senior Cognos Report Developer with AWS experience. The role involves designing, developing, and optimizing Cognos reports and dashboards for a State Medicaid Data Warehouse. The selected candidate will collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, and cloud teams to deliver reporting solutions. This position requires expertise in IBM Cognos Analytics, SQL, AWS services, and data modeling.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize Cognos reports, dashboards, and visualizations to meet business requirements.
- Work with an AWS-hosted DB2 Warehouse Solution to build reporting solutions.
- Develop and maintain Cognos Framework Manager models, data modules, and metadata layers.
- Collaborate with data engineers to structure data for optimal Cognos performance.
- Create and optimize complex SQL queries for Cognos reporting.
- Develop custom Cognos extensions and UI enhancements as needed.
- Implement role-based security and access control for Cognos users.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance report execution performance in a cloud-based environment.
- Work with business teams to gather reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Maintain current knowledge of Cognos Analytics updates, AWS services, and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required.
Experience: A minimum of 7 years of experience in IBM Cognos Analytics development is required.
Technical Skills: Required skills include strong experience in AWS infrastructure; expertise in SQL, data modeling, and performance tuning for Cognos reports; experience with Cognos Framework Manager, Report Studio, and Dashboarding; knowledge of ETL processes and data pipelines for Cognos integration; and familiarity with security and authentication configurations in Cognos.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Medicaid and/or Healthcare Plans for compliance and operational report generation.
- Experience working with AWS DB2.
- Knowledge of Python or scripting for automation in AWS.
- An IBM Cognos certification is a plus.
