Role: IBM Datastage Developer Location: Remote Duration: 6+ Months About the Role We are looking for an experienced IBM DataStage Developer / Data Engineer to design, build, and support scalable ETL pipelines for a large healthcare data platform. In this role, you will work on high-volume Medicaid/MMIS datasets to enable reliable reporting, analytics, and data quality across enterprise systems.
You'll collaborate closely with data architects, analysts, and business partners to develop efficient data integration solutions that support critical healthcare and regulatory needs
. What You'll Do - Design, develop, and maintain ETL jobs using IBM InfoSphere DataStage
- Build and optimize high-performance data pipelines for Medicaid/MMIS reporting
- Extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources including mainframe systems, relational databases, and external data feeds
- Partner with data architects to implement scalable, reusable ETL frameworks and standards
- Perform data validation, cleansing, and transformation to ensure accuracy and data integrity
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize ETL job performance
- Work with large healthcare datasets such as claims, eligibility, provider, and reference data
- Support data integration across legacy systems, data warehouses, and cloud platforms
- Create and maintain technical documentation for ETL processes, data mappings, and workflows
- Participate in testing, deployment, and production support activities
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5-8+ years of hands-on experience with IBM InfoSphere DataStage
- Strong experience working in Medicaid/MMIS or healthcare data environments
- Proficiency in SQL and relational databases (e.g., DB2, Oracle, SQL Server)
- Experience with Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting
- Hands-on experience with large-scale data warehouses and data marts
- Solid understanding of data modeling concepts and ETL design patterns
- Experience integrating data from mainframe and on-premise systems
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications - Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure (e.g., S3, Redshift)
- Familiarity with modern data platforms and big data technologies
- Experience with scheduling and orchestration tools (e.g., Control-M, Airflow)
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards such as HIPAA
- Experience supporting reporting and analytics tools
- IBM DataStage certification
