Description

We are looking for a Cloud Engineer to join a service organization in Jacksonville, Florida in a contract capacity with the potential to become permanent. This role is suited for a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who can strengthen and support enterprise cloud infrastructure while improving reliability, automation, and operational efficiency. The position will work across Microsoft-based environments and Azure services, partnering with technical teams to deliver stable, secure, and scalable solutions.

Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain cloud and hybrid infrastructure solutions across enterprise Microsoft and Azure environments.
Administer production Azure resources and help optimize performance, availability, and cost across hosted services.
Build and enhance automated infrastructure deployment processes using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
Support container-based platforms, including Docker and Azure Kubernetes Service, to improve application delivery and platform scalability.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to define technical standards, strengthen system reliability, and promote cloud best practices.
Lead infrastructure initiatives from planning through execution, ensuring timelines, quality expectations, and business needs are met.
Troubleshoot complex platform, server, and network-related issues, including active participation during service incidents and outage response calls.
Develop and maintain scripts and deployment workflows using tools such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash to streamline administration and repeatable tasks.
Contribute to secure cloud operations by applying sound controls for access, compliance, data protection, and environment governance.
Deliver responsive internal support by listening carefully, communicating clearly, recommending practical solutions, and confirming follow-up actions are completed.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent additional relevant experience in place of formal education.

At least 5 years of systems engineering or related infrastructure experience in enterprise environments, including Microsoft-based physical and virtual platforms.

Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience managing production workloads in Microsoft Azure.

Strong knowledge of Windows Server environments, including recent enterprise versions, along with a solid foundation in cloud engineering practices.

Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform, and familiarity with automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar languages.

Working knowledge of Azure DevOps, CI/CD concepts, and version control platforms such as Git.

Understanding of networking, security, and cloud governance principles, including load balancing, core protocols, compliance, and data protection standards.

Ability to lead technical efforts, solve complex problems, and communicate effectively with stakeholders across multiple levels of the organization.
