Job Title: Sparkflow Framework Engineer

Top Requirements:4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent via work, consulting, military, or education.Strong hands-on engineering experience with Apache Spark (Java or Scala; Python a plus).Experience building frameworks/libraries, API design, abstraction patterns (not just applications).Proficiency in SQL, Spark SQL processing, and performance tuning.Hands-on experience with version control (Git), CI/CD, and build tools like Gradle or Maven.Experience with Hadoop ecosystem, Hive, Kafka, S3, Iceberg (nice to have).Strong shell scripting (bash) and knowledge of database concepts.Plusses:Experience building onboarding/deployment patterns (config-driven pipelines, schedulers, launchers).Familiarity with governance capabilities (audit trails, metadata/lineage, data controls).Cloud experience with Google Cloud Platform Dataproc, AWS, or cloud-native Spark deployment patterns.Data modeling and normalization knowledge.Experience in integrating framework functionality into control planes (Unity, orchestration systems).Job Summary:This contingent Senior Software Engineer will support development of
SparkFlow, an enterprise-scale data processing framework built on Apache Spark.
The engineer will build new framework features, enhance composability, improve developer experience, and support AI-enabled usability capabilities.
A key responsibility includes integrating SparkFlow with the
Unity control plane, creating operators, adapters, and automation needed for orchestration.
The role also requires working with enterprise data platforms, improving diagnostics/observability, and participating in engineering best practices through design reviews and operational support.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:- Develop new functional features within the SparkFlow framework, including sources/targets, transformations, reliability, controls, and governance components.
- Refine and expand framework extension points-APIs, configuration patterns, libraries-for improved reusability.
- Improve developer ergonomics, including simplifying config structures, reducing onboarding friction, and enhancing observability/diagnostics.
- Build AI-enabled solutions that assist developers (guided config generation, validation, troubleshooting accelerators).
- Contribute to Unity control plane integration, including adapters, operators, automation, and integration testing.
- Participate in design reviews, framework architecture discussions, and code reviews.
- Support CI/CD processes, version control workflows, and unit/integration test automation.
- Engage in operational support, addressing issues in production and ensuring framework stability.
- Collaborate with data engineering, platform engineering, and DevOps partners on ecosystem integration.
