The Data Analyst / Test Validation Analyst is responsible for validating, reconciling, and analyzing complex financial and index-related data across multiple systems and projects simultaneously. This role requires advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment. The analyst partners closely with internal stakeholders, vendors, and technology teams to support data migrations, system upgrades, reporting accuracy, and production readiness.

responsibilities:
Data Analysis & Validation
- Perform detailed data validation and reconciliation across development, pre-production, and production environments.
- Compare portfolio and benchmark return files across systems to ensure consistency, accuracy, and proper alignment, including adjustments to inception dates and historical data.
- Review and validate index, portfolio, and security-level return data from multiple sources (e.g., RIMES, Bloomberg, SS&C, internal platforms).
- Identify and resolve discrepancies related to fees, net-of-fee calculations, benchmark assignments, asset class mappings, and currency treatments.
Advanced Excel & Reporting- Utilize advanced Excel functionality (e.g., complex formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data transformation, and cross-file comparisons) to analyze large datasets and perform detailed reconciliations.
- Create, maintain, and enhance internal reports supporting operational, analytical, and testing needs across multiple business areas.
- Draft, review, and validate data extracts and test files for stakeholder review and approval.
Testing & Migration Support- Support system upgrades, platform transitions, and data migrations by developing and executing test cases and validation scenarios.
- Load, validate, and track test cases tied to larger project epics and migration efforts.
- Review sample data feeds and extracts from vendors to ensure compliance with business and technical requirements.
- Validate formatting, schema alignment, and historical completeness for new or updated data loads.
Cross?Functional Collaboration- Work closely with internal business partners, technology teams, and external vendors to clarify requirements, resolve data questions, and confirm source data assumptions.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to confirm portfolio attributes, benchmark configurations, asset class hierarchies, and index definitions.
- Communicate findings, risks, and outstanding issues clearly to ensure timely resolution and project progression.
Multi?Project Management- Effectively manage multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines without sacrificing data quality.
- Track progress, follow up with stakeholders, and ensure deliverables are completed according to project timelines.
- Organize and consolidate questions, issues, and documentation related to ongoing initiatives for efficient resolution.

TECHNICAL SKILLS
Must Have
Ability to interpret and validate structured data feeds and extracts from multiple systems.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, large dataset analysis, file comparisons, and reconciliation techniques.
Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Experience working with financial, investment, portfolio, benchmark, or index-related data.
Proven ability to manage and deliver work across multiple concurrent projects.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational skills and ability to document processes and findings.
Strong understanding of data validation, quality assurance, and testing methodologies.
Nice To Have
Experience supporting system migrations, platform upgrades, or vendor transitions.
Familiarity with asset class hierarchies, benchmarks, index data, returns, fees, or investment performance reporting.
Prior experience collaborating with external data vendors and internal technology teams.
