Senior Engineering Technician - RF

Job Overview

The Senior Engineering Technician is responsible for providing advanced technical support to the Bench Test Engineering (BTE) team. Core duties include building, configuring, calibrating, maintaining, and debugging test benches to ensure reliable and accurate operation. The role also supports laboratory coordination activities, including scheduling bench resources, organizing lab workflows.

Additional responsibilities include deploying and validating hardware on the bench, debugging hardware issues, and assisting engineers with RF-related tasks such as bench and ATE hardware de-embedding, impedance matching, and RF performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform advanced debug and failure analysis on RF boards, modules, and mixed-signal assemblies.

- Conduct RF measurements using Spectrum Analyzers, Vector Network Analyzers (VNA), Signal Generators, Power Meters, and oscilloscopes.

- Analyze RF performance parameters including return loss, insertion loss, impedance, harmonic content, noise floor, gain, S-parameters.

- Provide detailed failure reports, test results, and recommendations.

- Execute bench setups, calibration routines, and RF test procedures.

- Interpret schematics, PCB layouts, and datasheets.

- Perform board-level rework including RF components and shielding.

- Maintain laboratory equipment and setups.

- Collaborate across Engineering, Quality, and HW.

Minimum Qualifications

- Technical degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Mechatronics, or equivalent.

- 5+ years of hands-on experience in electronic testing, with at least 3 years in RF.

- Strong proficiency with RF test equipment.

- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and PCB documentation.

- Ability to write reports in English.

- Computer skills with Windows and/or Linux.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with RF circuit design concepts.

- Experience with RF production test or validation labs.

- Familiarity with RF simulation tools.

- Experience with digital and mixed-signal systems.

- Skilled in SMT soldering and rework.

- Experience in high-tech or wireless industries.

- Experience with Microsoft 365 tools.

Preferred Education

- Technical school degree with 3+ years RF experience OR

- Bachelor's degree in a related field.

- RF or electronics specialization certificates are a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.
OR
Associate's degree and 1+ year of Engineering Technician or related work experience.
OR
High School Diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of Engineering Technician or related work experience.

Physical Requirements:
Frequently transports and installs equipment weighing at least 25 lbs.
