Java Team Lead - Development

Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled Java Team Lead - Development to provide leadership in development and operations within enterprise technology environments. As a Java Team Lead - Development, you will oversee both onshore and offshore teams, guide architecture and process improvements, and drive the adoption of modern development practices. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical expertise in Java and related technologies, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams through transformation.

Key Responsibilities

• As a Java Team Lead - Development, provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to development and operations teams, focusing on estimation, planning, and delivery oversight.
• Manage teams of 10–15 resources, including vendor and partner teams, as a Java Team Lead - Development.
• Ensure alignment with Agile practices as the organization transitions to Agile ways of working.
• Lead process improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis and communication of outcomes to business owners.
• Collaborate with architecture, middleware, and security teams to align on technical design and operational standards.
• Oversee post-deployment IT operations, incident management, and health monitoring of applications and tools.
• Contribute to the design and modernization of legacy systems and applications, including Websphere Application Server and other Java/.NET platforms.
• Guide teams in the use of DevOps and DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization concepts.
• Ensure operational visibility through event logging, dashboards, and monitoring tools such as LogStash, Kibana, and Elastic Search.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Proven experience as a Java Team Lead - Development or Manager in application development or IT operations.
• Strong background in Java and object-oriented programming (OOP); familiarity with .NET is a plus.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and driving Agile adoption in technology teams.
• Familiarity with DevOps/DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Bitbucket), and cloud/containerization concepts.
• Strong architecture or design orientation with the ability to guide technical direction.
• Experience working with operational monitoring and log management tools such as LogStash, Kibana, and Elastic Search.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and business discussions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with legacy Websphere Application Server platforms, specifically Application Manager.
• Post-deployment IT operations experience, including operational dashboards and system health monitoring.
• Proven track record of driving process improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
