At Atlas Copco Compressors LLC, the role of Buyer is vital in managing the full procurement cycle to support manufacturing and engineering initiatives while ensuring strict adherence to quality and financial parameters. As the Buyer, you will oversee the awarding and tracking of purchase orders, playing a pivotal role in bridging the requirements of production, engineering, and logistics teams to ensure a seamless supply chain flow.

You will be entrusted with the responsibility to develop and execute robust procurement strategies that not only meet cost reduction targets but also enhance overall supply chain resilience and supplier relationships. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will collaborate across departments, coordinating activities to meet challenging project deadlines and operational targets.

Key duties include:
  • Designing and implementing effective sourcing and negotiation tactics to deliver significant cost-saving opportunities and sustainable supplier partnerships.
  • Working closely with Engineering, Planning, Transportation, Quality Assurance, and Production teams to synchronize procurement priorities and align purchasing with operational requirements.
  • Ensuring meticulous follow-up on purchase orders to expedite timely deliveries, mitigating potential disruptions in production schedules.
  • Managing purchase orders end-to-end, guaranteeing accuracy, compliance with corporate policies, and reflecting best practices.
  • Active participation in cross-functional weekly production meetings to monitor progress, forecast needs, and address procurement-related challenges proactively.
  • Negotiating competitive pricing and terms with suppliers, contributing to Atlas Copco's objective of maximizing value while maintaining high quality and service standards.
  • Quickly resolving any invoice or order discrepancies to uphold seamless procurement operations and vendor relationships.
  • Evaluating supplier performance through defined KPIs covering quality, on-time delivery, and cost control, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Maintaining open and transparent communication with stakeholders throughout the procurement process to promote collaborative problem solving and efficiency.
  • Supporting initiatives aimed at reducing working capital by analyzing and reporting detailed savings, including in materials, transportation, and import duties.
  • Conducting regular supplier site visits to assess service quality, operational capabilities, and partnership potential firsthand.
  • Applying market intelligence to anticipate evolving supply chain risks and opportunities, adapting buying decisions accordingly to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Tracking and managing special projects as assigned by the Supply Chain Manager to streamline procurement operations and enhance overall supply chain effectiveness.

Professional Experience: Proven expertise with 5 to 7 years in supply chain, procurement, or project buying roles with a record of delivering impactful cost savings and operational improvements.

Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

  • Clear and Persuasive Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills enabling effective collaboration across internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Strong Analytical Aptitude: Capability to analyze procurement data and market trends to identify cost-saving possibilities and optimize sourcing decisions.
  • ERP Systems and Data Analytics Tools: Proficient in utilizing enterprise resource planning software and analytic platforms to enhance purchasing processes and supplier evaluation.
  • Microsoft Excel Mastery: Skilled in complex functions including pivot tables, advanced formulas, and data visualization to support detailed reporting and analysis.
  • Comprehensive Supply Chain Insight: Deep understanding of inventory management, spare parts logistics, and supply chain dynamics that influence procurement outcomes.
