Job Description
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Python Developer to own end-to-end development of back-end services and automation. The role covers Python back-end development with FastAPI, CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins and GitLab, and containerized deployment to Kubernetes and serverless platforms. A core part of the work is building and documenting services and tools that are exposed through Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, so that both AI agents and engineering teams can use them. You will set technical direction, define coding and testing standards, and mentor other developers on the team.

Core Job Functions
  • Design, build, and maintain production Python services and APIs using FastAPI, with clean architecture, sound object-oriented design, and maintainable code.
  • Build and maintain MCP servers and tools that expose enterprise applications and APIs, including tool schemas, documentation, and usage guidance written for AI agents and human users.
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins and GitLab with automated unit, integration, and functional testing, code quality gates, and security scanning.
  • Build, secure, and deploy container images to Kubernetes and serverless environments.
  • Learn the domain logic of multiple enterprise applications and tools quickly, and build custom API integrations and interfaces for them.
  • Apply best practices for code quality, testing, observability (logging, metrics, tracing), and secrets management.
  • Balance company processes and security requirements with the needs of customers and the content they request.
  • Lead code reviews and set team standards for Python style, testing, packaging, and documentation.
  • Write and maintain processes and procedures for implementation staff, operations administrators, and developers.
  • Influence and collaborate with customer and solution teams across the organization, and explain technical ideas clearly to audiences with different levels of technical knowledge.
  • Work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Take ownership of problems and deliver new solutions that are repeatable and dependable.
  • Mentor and train other developers, and help team members with questions about tools, processes, and design.
Experience
  • 7+ years of professional Python development, including production back-end services.
  • Strong knowledge of FastAPI, async Python, REST API design, Pydantic, and object-oriented design patterns.
  • Strong knowledge of automated testing with pytest, covering unit, integration, and functional tests, along with mocking and test strategy.
  • Strong knowledge of Jenkins and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and kubectl.
  • Experience managing code with Git, including branching strategies, merge requests, and code review workflows.
  • Experience with Python packaging and dependency management, such as pyproject.toml, uv or Poetry, and private package registries.
  • Experience with secrets management and secure coding practices.
  • Experience building or integrating with MCP servers, or with other LLM and AI agent tooling, is a plus.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Ansible Automation Platform is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Azure API Management administration in an enterprise environment is a plus.
