Summary

Note:
The ideal candidate will be local to the Waukegan, Illinois area (Northern Illinois/Southern Wisconsin). While an on-site or hybrid work schedule is strongly preferred.

Job Description
•   We are seeking a highly seasoned Senior SQL DBA to take ownership of an environment consisting of approximately 30 SQL servers.
•   The ideal candidate will provide essential maintenance, perform a comprehensive health assessment, and establish best practices.
•   You will act as the primary SQL authority, supporting an internal team of systems engineers and data integrators.

Key Responsibilities:
•   Assess the overall SQL environment and advise the team on what practices to keep doing, stop doing, and start doing.
•   Identify areas for structural improvement and build comprehensive standard operating procedures.
•   Create detailed documentation that can be easily followed by IT staff who are familiar with SQL but are not dedicated DBAs.
•   Provide a high-level overview of the existing SQL environment.
•   Perform specific technical service tasks and processes, ensuring proficiency in core SQL areas.

Qualifications & Skills:
•   Experience: At least 5 or more years of dedicated SQL experience.
•   Background: Proven experience working in a corporate environment. Experience in a medical or healthcare environment is a strong bonus, though not required.
•   Soft Skills: Exceptional documentation skills and the ability to clearly create and communicate processes.

Interview Process:
•   Initial 30-minute virtual interview.
•   Follow-up 30 to 60-minute in-person interview.

•   Maintaining Operating System Standards
•   Troubleshooting OS issues
•   SQL Upgrades
•   SQL Patching
•   Troubleshooting Application Issues
•   Server Backups
•   SQL Backups of Data
•   Restores of Server
•   Restores of SQL
•   SQL Service Management (config, start, stop, restart)
•   Review application event logs
•   Certificate installation & Management
