Job Description
We are seeking a Software Design Engineer 4, Firmware Security Analysis Platform to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in LLVM-based compiler engineering, firmware-focused fuzzing, and AI-assisted security analysis and a proven ability to build scalable, automated pipelines that detect and triage firmware vulnerabilities at scale.
Responsibilities:
- Develop preprocessing pipelines to compile C/C++ firmware into LLVM IR for analysis.
- Implement and maintain LLVM transformations to enable off-target analysis and fuzzing.
- Create code-analysis workflows including call-graph extraction, metadata, and static-analysis integrations.
- Design and operate fuzzing campaigns using modern frameworks and AI-assisted techniques.
- Improve automated crash triage to identify, deduplicate, and analyze security findings.
- Build scalable automation that combines compiler infrastructure, security tooling, and AI-driven workflows.
- Enhance vulnerability detection pipelines and reduce false positives.
- Improve reporting systems to convert findings into actionable insights for engineers.
- Validate analysis approaches across multiple firmware targets and environments.
- Increase reliability, modularity, test coverage, and CI/CD automation for open-source readiness.
- Create developer documentation, onboarding guides, and architectural references.
- Support dependency review, reproducible builds, and contribution and release workflows.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code and participate in design reviews.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong professional experience with C/C++ in production systems.
- Hands-on experience with compiler technologies, LLVM, or low-level systems programming.
- Experience with fuzzing frameworks such as libFuzzer, AFL, or AFL++.
- Strong understanding of software security principles, memory-safety issues, and root-cause analysis.
- Proficiency with Python for automation and tooling.
- Experience with Git-based workflows and documented, maintainable code practices.
Preferred Skills:
- Firmware, embedded systems, device software, or bare-metal development experience.
- Knowledge of HALs, MMIO, emulation, rehosting, or cross-compilation.
- Experience with static analysis platforms such as CodeQL.
- Familiarity with program analysis concepts including call graphs, data-flow analysis, and IR transformations.
- Experience integrating AI, machine learning, or LLMs into engineering workflows.
- Open-source contributor or maintainer experience and CI/CD release automation.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps, GitHub, or similar platforms.
