responsibilities:
- Spend your week acting as the ultimate technical advisor and architect for a diverse portfolio of business clients across the region.
- Travel locally to client sites to assess, design, and deploy robust enterprise networks from scratch.
- Rescue and optimize inherited or underperforming network infrastructures, finding the best path to stability and security.
- Configure and troubleshoot advanced security ecosystems, ensuring seamless enterprise firewalling, zero-trust network access, and network access control.
- Step outside pure networking to spin up new virtual machines, configure storage area networks, and support compute infrastructure when projects demand a holistic systems approach.
- Mentor fellow engineering staff, serving as the top-tier escalation point and subject matter expert for complex outages or deployments.
qualifications:
Must-Haves
7 or more years of proven, high-level infrastructure design, implementation, and administration experience.
Exceptional stability in your employment history, ideally with previous tenure in an IT consulting or Managed Services Provider environment.
Deep, hands-on expertise with enterprise firewalls, ZTNA, voice systems, and NAC solutions (specifically within the Fortinet ecosystem).
Willingness and ability to work a hybrid schedule that heavily involves driving to various local customer sites in the Southeastern Wisconsin region (this role cannot be performed entirely remotely).
Stellar interpersonal and presentation abilities to interface directly with client executives and technical teams.
Nice-to-Haves
Active, high-level vendor certifications from major networking hardware providers.
Advanced knowledge of routing protocols and concepts like SD-WAN, BGP, and OSPF.
Familiarity with server operating systems and hardware platforms like Windows Server, Linux, Dell, and HPE.
