OverviewOur client is seeking a
Network Engineer to support enterprise network operations and contribute to ongoing
network modernization and lifecycle refresh initiatives. This role sits on a
Tier 1 network team and is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, improving network performance, and working in a fast-paced, ticket-driven environment.
You'll play a key role in maintaining reliable connectivity across a large enterprise while supporting upgrades and modernization of network infrastructure.
What You'll DoNetwork Support & Operations- Provide Tier 1/2 network support by triaging and resolving connectivity issues across LAN, WAN, and wireless environments
- Troubleshoot Layer 2/3 networking issues, wireless performance, and general infrastructure incidents
- Manage daily ticket queue support as part of a 4-person rotation
- Minimize escalations to Tier 2 through strong troubleshooting and ownership
Network Engineering & Modernization- Support enterprise routing, switching, firewalls, and wireless platforms
- Assist with network upgrades, refresh projects, and hardware lifecycle initiatives
- Participate in testing, validation, and deployment of infrastructure changes
- Support SD-WAN connectivity and routing policies as needed
Lifecycle Management- Coordinate and execute hardware refreshes and decommissioning efforts
- Maintain accurate documentation of inventory, configurations, and dependencies
- Partner with procurement, vendors, and field teams on upgrades and deployments
Collaboration & Communication- Partner with IT teams to diagnose and resolve cross-functional issues
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Contribute to continuous improvement of network processes and documentation
Required Qualifications- 2-5+ years of network engineering/support experience
- Strong troubleshooting skills across routing, switching, LAN/WAN, and wireless
- Experience supporting enterprise network environments
- Understanding of network security, segmentation, and best practices
- Ability to manage and prioritize ticket queues effectively
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Must be located in Southeast Wisconsin
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with Juniper or HPE networking (Layer 3 routing/switching)
- Familiarity with Aruba wireless environments
- Exposure to Palo Alto firewalls and/or HPE SD-WAN (nice to have)
- CCNA (or equivalent experience)
- Experience in multi-vendor environments
- Knowledge of ITIL or change management practices
- Exposure to automation or template-driven network management
Team & Schedule- Part of a 4-person Tier 1 Network team
- Shared responsibilities for:
- Daily ticket queue coverage
- Monthly on-call rotation
- Hybrid model: in-office Tuesday & Thursday

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
