We are seeking a hands-on Network Engineer to support a major infrastructure effort upgrading and replacing networking equipment for regional Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
Please Note: This role involves both office-based configuration and field deployment. You will be working directly on network equipment located inside field cabinets along state highways, which requires working outdoors and near vehicular traffic in various weather conditions.

Core & Mandatory Skills
To be considered, your resume must clearly reflect the following:
- Network & Server Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on experience installing, configuring, and upgrading network applications, switches, routers, and servers.
- Cabling Specialist: 5+ years of direct experience with network cabling and fiber optic cabling (splicing, patching, and troubleshooting).
- Active Certification: Valid Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is required.
- Education: 4-year college degree, equivalent technical study, or 5+ years of equivalent relevant experience.
Highly Desired Skills (Big Plus)
- Experience with Ubiquity Wireless or Sierra Wireless equipment.
- Familiarity with FortiSIEM for security monitoring.
- Prior experience working on outdoor infrastructure, telecom enclosures, or roadside telemetry.
Position Responsibilities
- Independently configure, test, and deploy network hardware (Ethernet switches, routers, wireless bridges, firewalls, and access points).
- Work along highways within field cabinets to execute physical hardware replacements and network assessments.
- Write clear technical documentation and collaborate with network architects to ensure compliance with infrastructure standards.
- Act as an escalation point for high-priority network support and troubleshooting issues.
