Job Description:
We are seeking a Business Information Analyst (BIA) to support the migration of CRDM from SQL Server to Snowflake. The ideal candidate will bridge business and technical teams, drive discovery and documentation efforts, coordinate testing and migration activities, and ensure a successful transition of databases, ETL processes, semantic models, reporting, and downstream consumer systems to the cloud.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the migration of SQL Server to Snowflake in a lift-and-shift environment.
- Create and maintain inventories of:
- Database tables, views, attributes, stored procedures, and SQL code.
- SSIS packages migrating to Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- SSAS cubes, dimensions, and measures migrating to Power BI.
- Reports, reporting dependencies, and downstream consumer systems.
- Partner with business stakeholders to identify active data assets, reports, and opportunities to retire unused assets.
- Develop and maintain:
- Data Dictionary
- Source-to-Target Mapping (STTM)
- Data Lineage
- Dependency Documentation
- Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect tracking, report validation, and migration readiness.
- Support report and query migration and rebuild activities.
- Coordinate downstream system migration activities.
- Track project inventories, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, and migration status.
- Collaborate with business users, developers, QA teams, and project stakeholders throughout the migration lifecycle.
Required Skills:
- Strong experience as a Business Information Analyst (BIA) or Business Systems Analyst (BSA).
- Experience supporting Data Warehouse or Analytics migration projects.
- Strong knowledge of:
- SQL Server
- Snowflake
- SSIS
- Azure Data Factory (ADF)
- SSAS
- Power BI
- Experience with Data Mapping, Data Lineage, and Source-to-Target Mapping (STTM).
- Strong requirements gathering and technical documentation skills.
- Experience managing User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience tracking project risks, dependencies, and migration activities.
