Job Title: Infrastructure Architect (Private & Hybrid Cloud)

Responsibilities:

  • Provides architectural guidance for the integration and onboarding of application workloads into hosting platforms, including compute, virtualization, storage, backup and recovery, and operational requirements.
  • Provides architecture and technical leadership for the design and delivery of private and hybrid cloud hosting platforms and supports infrastructure services and integration with public cloud services.
  • Promote standardized, automated, and repeatable infrastructure delivery through architecture patterns, infrastructure-as-code, and with approved enterprise automation capabilities and platforms.
  • Provides architecture guidance and coordination for the integration of acquired businesses into Enterprise IT, including the assessment, rationalization, and migration of applications and supporting services to enterprise hosting platforms.
  • Assists in the analysis, design, and development of roadmap and implementation plans based upon current and future-state architecture.
  • Develop standard architecture patterns for integration of services into hosting platforms.
  • Aligns architectural requirements with Enterprise IT, infrastructure, security, and cloud strategies.
  • Consults with project and product teams to ensure solutions can be integrated into hosting platforms, infrastructure, network, security, identity, storage, backup, and other shared services.
  • Identify opportunities to reuse standardized hosting patterns, platforms, services, and automation.
  • Supports the development and evolution of private hosting platforms and reusable infrastructure services that can be consumed consistently across business and application workloads.
  • Assists in post-implementation continuous improvement efforts to enhance performance and provide increased functionality.
  • Ensures the architectural completeness of private hosting solutions, including integration, dependencies, non-functional requirements, benchmarks, resiliency, security, and operational readiness.
  • Works closely with more senior architects and potentially project management to ensure alignment of plans with what is being delivered.
  • Analyzes current architectures to identify technical debt, capability gaps, integration challenges, and opportunities for modernization and standardization.
  • Keeps technology and service managers aware of key customer issues, identifying and resolving potential problems and conflicts.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, such as containers, infrastructure automation, and hosting to support platform strategy and modernization initiatives.
  • Identifies approved infrastructure platforms, services, tools, and patterns appropriate for hosting solutions.
  • May request exceptions to enterprise toolset. Assists in developing business cases. Supports change management initiatives.
  • Collaborates with project management on reporting project status, issues, risks and benefits.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, System Analysis or a related field. Or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of four to seven (4-7) years of experience in multiple IT areas with at least two to four (2-4) years of relevant domain experience (data, network, application, systems, etc.).
  • Requires advanced to expert level knowledge and understanding of architecture, application design, system engineering and integration.
  • Proficient communication skills and experience in mentoring/leading teams
  • Ability to translate complicated business requirements into multiple solution options and explain the pros/cons of various approaches.
