Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Full Stack WordPress Developer to lead the development, maintenance, security, and performance optimization of enterprise-level WordPress multisite environments. This role combines hands-on web development with DevOps, platform administration, accessibility compliance, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate brings deep WordPress expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to support scalable, secure, and high-performing digital experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize WordPress multisite environments across multiple websites and business functions
  • Partner with internal web services teams to recommend technical solutions, troubleshoot issues, and ensure platform stability
  • Support DevOps processes including testing, deployment, release management, uptime monitoring, and incident response
  • Configure, maintain, and tune enterprise monitoring platforms such as ThousandEyes, New Relic, and SolarWinds
  • Manage WordPress CMS configuration for performance, scalability, and security best practices
  • Maintain version control for WordPress core, themes, and third-party plugins, ensuring updates align with security and performance standards
  • Regularly patch WordPress core and plugins based on security advisories and vulnerability disclosures
  • Design, maintain, back up, and optimize databases supporting WordPress environments
  • Participate in planning, evaluation, and implementation of new website initiatives, upgrades, integrations, and enterprise solutions
  • Troubleshoot and enhance existing site features, plugin functionality, and enterprise system integrations
  • Ensure websites meet cross-platform compatibility standards, responsive design requirements, and performance benchmarks
  • Conduct performance analysis and implement optimization strategies for speed, uptime, and user experience
  • Ensure all solutions meet WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and universal design principles
  • Communicate emerging technology trends and strategic recommendations to technical and business stakeholders
  • Produce status reports, performance metrics, retrospectives, and project documentation
  • Ensure all solutions are secure, maintainable, and scalable

Required Qualifications
  • Proven professional experience as a Full Stack WordPress Developer
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional web development experience
  • Extensive experience developing and maintaining WordPress multisite environments
  • Strong proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, and HTML5
  • Experience with Git or similar source control systems
  • Experience developing with APIs and RESTful services
  • Strong knowledge of WordPress security, plugin security, patch management, and performance optimization
  • Solid understanding of DevOps practices including deployment, testing, and monitoring
  • Strong commitment to accessibility and universal design, including WCAG compliance
  • Experience navigating both mid-project and post-launch web development initiatives
  • Demonstrated project management and business process improvement experience
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and adaptable to evolving technologies

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
  • Experience working in a K 12 academic environment
  • Experience working within public sector or government agencies
