Job Title: Senior Compute Engineer (Apple Platforms & Automation)

Role Overview

We are seeking a collaborative, high-level Endpoint Engineer to own the strategy, engineering, and automation of our Apple ecosystem (macOS and iOS). You will go beyond standard MDM management to build a modern, frictionless, and secure "Mac-first" experience. This role is perfect for a subject matter expert who treats endpoint management as a software engineering challenge-leveraging APIs, scripting, and emerging AI tools to bridge gaps between Jamf and our broader enterprise stack.

NOTE: This is a hybrid position based in our Farmer's Branch (Dallas, TX) office, in which the expectation will be to be able to work from the office a minimum of 5 days a month.

Key Responsibilities
  • Platform Ownership: Serve as the primary architect for macOS and iOS/iPadOS, managing the full lifecycle of hardware from zero-touch provisioning (DEP/ADE) to decommission.
  • Jamf Administration: Lead the configuration and optimization of Jamf Pro, including the development of advanced extension attributes, smart groups, and complex policy scoping.
  • Application Lifecycle & Packaging: Architect and manage the global deployment of software. This includes advanced custom packaging (using Composer, Packages, or Munki), maintaining a self-service catalog, and engineering automated patch management workflows to ensure a secure and current software fleet.
  • API & Tool Integration: Design and maintain integrations between Jamf Pro and external tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Slack, Okta, or internal dashboards) using RESTful APIs and webhooks to automate manual workflows.
  • AI-Driven Operations: Research and implement AI/LLM-assisted workflows for proactive support, automated script generation, and log analysis to improve fleet health and user experience.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Maintain and version-control all endpoint scripts and configurations (Shell, Swift, or Python) to ensure a scalable and reproducible environment.
  • Technical Leadership & Presentation: Act as the subject matter expert for the Apple platform. You must be comfortable presenting to executive leadership, translating complex technical roadmaps into business-value narratives, and providing data-driven recommendations for future spend and security posture.
  • Security & Compliance: Partner with Security teams to enforce zScaler policies, FileVault, Gatekeeper, and compliance baselines (CIS/NIST) without compromising the "Apple-native" user experience.

Required Technical Skills
  • Apple Expertise: 5+ years of experience engineering Apple product solutions in a global enterprise (1,000+ endpoints).
  • Jamf Mastery: 2+ years experience with Jamf Pro (Jamf 300/400 certification is a huge plus). Familiarity with Jamf Connect and Jamf Protect is strongly preferred.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to bridge the gap between deep technical engineering and executive-level strategy.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building custom AI Agents or using GitHub Copilot/OpenAI to accelerate IT automation tasks.
  • Expert knowledge of macOS packaging formats (.pkg, .dmg) and deployment tools (Composer, Jamf Admin, AutoPkg).
  • High proficiency in Zsh/Bash and Python. You should be comfortable interacting with the Jamf Pro API and Classic API.
  • Modern Auth: Strong understanding of Apple Business Manager (ABM), SSO extensions, and Identity Providers (IdP).
  • Experience with Swift for creating custom macOS UI/UX elements (onboarding screens, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Declarative Device Management (DDM) and the future of Apple's management framework.
  • Linux experience a plus

Education:
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred
