Job Title: Footwear Materials Developer
Location: Beaverton, OR (Must be able to come onsite Mon-Thursday, can work remotely from home on Fridays)
oTop Must-Haves:
5+ YOE Material development experience in footwear
Can meet quick timelines, similar industry experience to Nike
Highly collaborative role, can make collective decisions, take feedback well
MUST include a Portfolio: Variety in type of work, manufacturability - how to translate to designs to something mass manufacturing
Nice to haves:
Multiple footwear experiences at different orgs or on teams or variety of shoe types,
A strong understanding of Material supplier relationships and how they function
A variety of materials and material usage - leathers, synthetics, etc
WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
As a member of the Materials Development function, we're looking for you to apply your expert level knowledge and experience. You will be focused on driving functional excellence and material readiness with a sharp focus on execution of material creation, material sourcing, cost, quality, and implementation of sustainable solutions. Materials Development collaborates with vendors, product creation, and other functions to establish seasonal material direction, attain on-time delivery, and ensure product excellence for both consumers and athletes.
Manage the materials creation process from initial concept through to commercialization for assigned materials ensuring on time delivery and development according to critical dates and specifications
Drives functional and cross-geo material strategies and initiatives (e.g. Palettes, sustainability, PCX, etc.)
Keeps informed of market trends, new technology and consumer preferences
Mentors team members
You will engage in all phases of the product process to ensure projects are managed according to critical dates and completed on time, while meeting design intent, performance goals, costing/profitability and sustainability targets.
You will ensure that your projects are ready for the commercialization process and can ultimately be manufactured.
