Java Engineer

Overview
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Java Engineer to support the AI Security organization, a team responsible for integrating new security assessment tools, automating workflows, and modernizing the engineering ecosystem across the enterprise. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on Java-based microservices, automation, cloud integration, and lightweight React UI development. The ideal candidate brings strong technical leadership, a proactive delivery mindset, and the ability to work across multi-tier architectures.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build end-to-end solutions using Java and modern microservices patterns
• Develop and enhance React-based dashboards, reporting UIs, and workflow interfaces
• Build automation for APIs, data pipelines, and security workflows
• Apply TDD and engineering hygiene practices from day one
• Work across multi-tier enterprise architectures with a focus on reliability and scalability
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, security, and cloud teams
• Assist with cloud-based deployments in Google Cloud Platform or Azure (AWS acceptable)
• Improve development standards, tooling, and continuous improvement processes

Required Skills & Experience
Core Engineering

• 7+ years of Java development
• Deep experience with Spring Boot, microservices, and API development
• Ability to design and deliver end-to-end enterprise solutions
• Experience working across multi-tier distributed architectures

Frontend

• React experience (building dashboards, workflow interfaces, reporting UIs)

Automation & Workflows

• Experience building:
  • APIs
  • Data pipelines
  • Automated workflows
• Strong understanding of TDD, testing standards, and engineering best practices

Cloud

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform or Azure preferred
• AWS acceptable
• Experience deploying cloud-native workloads or services

Soft Skills

• Strong ownership mentality
• Ability to work independently with minimal hand-holding
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• "Get it done" mindset

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $69.50 - $74.00/hr.
