Data Migration Lead - Salesforce
Full Time - Remote
PruTech is seeking a Salesforce Data Migration Expert to lead and execute data migration efforts for Salesforce implementations. This role is responsible for planning, executing, and validating data migrations from legacy systems into Salesforce, ensuring data integrity and accuracy throughout the process. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Salesforce data tools, bulk loading strategies, and data quality best practices.
The Data Migration Lead is responsible for defining and executing the end-to-end migration approach: profiling and mapping source data across heterogeneous systems, transforming and loading it into the target platform, and validating that migrated data is complete, accurate, and usable. This includes migrating active records and historical records within defined retention windows, reference data used for downstream payment tracking, and application data with its associated documents — ensuring documents are routed to the appropriate document-management system and linked back to the corresponding case.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end data migration strategy and execution for the implementation program
- Profile, analyze, and map source data from a varied set of legacy technologies into the target system
- Design and build extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes across heterogeneous source systems
- Migrate active records as well as historical records within defined retention windows
- Migrate reference data (such as vendor and payment identifiers) required for downstream processing
- Migrate application data and route associated documents to the appropriate document-management system, linking them to the corresponding case
- Support continuity of in-process and incomplete records so they can be completed in the target system
- Define and execute validation, reconciliation, and data-quality processes to ensure migration accuracy and completeness
Duties/Responsibilities
- Develops the overall data migration plan, including sequencing, cutover approach, fallback, and timeline
- Conducts source data profiling and analysis to assess structure, volume, and quality across varied technologies
- Defines detailed data-mapping specifications between each source and the target data model
- Builds and maintains ETL pipelines to extract, cleanse, transform, and load data into the target system
- Designs handling for active, closed, and historical records according to retention requirements
- Migrates reference and lookup data needed to support downstream functions such as payment tracking
- Implements document migration, ensuring uploaded and generated documents (including retained PDF versions and notes) are stored in the document-management system and linked to the correct case
- Handles in-process and incomplete records so applicants and administrators can continue them in the target system
- Establishes validation, reconciliation, and exception-handling processes, and resolves data-quality issues with stakeholders
- Plans and executes mock migrations, dress rehearsals, and production cutover, capturing and acting on results
- Documents migration design, mappings, run procedures, and results for client and audit purposes
- Coordinates with solution architects, business analysts, and client data owners to confirm mappings and resolve gaps
- Supports compliance with applicable government, regulatory, security, and data privacy requirements
Required Skills/Abilities
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field
- 15+ years of data migration, data engineering, or ETL experience, including large software implementation programs
- Must have experience leading the data migration workstream on programs exceeding $10 million. Demonstrated experience migrating data from varied, heterogeneous legacy source technologies into a target system
- Strong data analysis, profiling, and data-mapping skills across complex source systems
- Proficiency with ETL/data integration tools and SQL, and the ability to design scalable migration pipelines
- Experience designing validation, reconciliation, and data-quality processes for high-stakes migrations
- Experience migrating documents and unstructured content into document-management systems and linking them to records
- Understanding of historical/retention-based migration requirements and cutover planning
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across technical teams and business data owners
- Experience supporting government or public sector implementations
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with government compliance, security, and data privacy frameworks
- Experience with large data volume strategies and performance tuning for migrations
- Experience integrating with document-management systems and content repositories
- Experience working with nearshore and offshore delivery teams
- Based on the East Coast or able to support East Coast working hours and client locations
