Job Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Java Engineer to join their team in Phoenix, AZ. The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of internet-scale solution development using Java, Spring Boot, and NoSQL databases, with a strong command of reactive and functional programming paradigms.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java-based microservices at internet scale
Build asynchronous reactive microservices using Vert.x and Spring WebFlux
Develop and expose REST APIs using Spring Boot 2.0 (reactive) with OpenAPI/Swagger specifications
Design database schemas, index strategies, and perform query tuning and optimization
Write clean, maintainable code and actively participate in peer code and architecture reviews
Apply Test Driven Development practices across the software lifecycle
Collaborate with engineering teams using modern tooling including Git workflows, Gradle, and load testing frameworks

Required Skills

Java 11 — Lambdas, Streams, Completable Future, Optional, Generics
Spring Boot — WebFlux, Reactor 3, Spring Data, REST
Reactive and functional programming in Java
Vert.x for asynchronous reactive microservices
OpenAPI / Swagger specification
NoSQL database design and optimization
Cloud technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, Jaeger, Prometheus
Messaging systems: Kafka, MQ
Modern tooling: Git workflows, Gradle, mock frameworks, load testing tools

Preferred Skills

Java certification
Experience with large-scale distributed systems
