Sr. IT Business Analyst

Job Summary

This role requires a professional who can evaluate business needs, analyze raw data, translate technical concepts into business-friendly documentation, and support application enhancements throughout the software development lifecycle. Experience working with cross-functional teams including Architecture, Project Delivery, Application Sustainment, and Contract Management Support (CMS) teams is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and evaluate business systems, workflows, and user requirements
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT teams, developers, analysts, and project managers to gather and document requirements
• Serve as a liaison between business users and technical teams to ensure successful solution delivery
• Perform data analysis on raw datasets to identify trends, issues, and business insights
• Support business process reengineering initiatives and recommend technology-driven improvements
• Develop business requirements documents (BRDs), functional specifications, process flows, and user stories
• Assist in preparing solution options, risk assessments, cost/benefit analyses, ROI evaluations, and buy/build recommendations
• Participate in software development lifecycle (SDLC) activities including analysis, design reviews, testing, and implementation support
• Support unit testing, system testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
• Create and maintain user-friendly documentation including user guides, how-to documents, training materials, and reference manuals
• Develop visual documentation such as screenshots, process diagrams, and step-by-step instructional materials
• Update documentation and training materials based on application enhancements and system changes
• Present technical information in a clear and understandable manner for non-technical audiences
• Participate in meetings, demos, walkthroughs, and stakeholder discussions regarding system enhancements and updates
• Ensure documentation accuracy, completeness, and alignment with application functionality

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Business Analysis, Data Analysis, or related fields
• Strong experience reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating business systems and user needs
• Extensive understanding of business analysis methodologies, tools, and best practices
• Experience working within Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies
• Proven experience gathering and documenting business and functional requirements
• Experience participating in software design reviews, testing activities, and implementation support
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working collaboratively with both business and IT teams
• Ability to translate technical concepts into clear business language and user documentation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience serving as a liaison between business teams and enterprise IT organizations
• Strong background in data analysis and interpreting raw data
• Experience with business process mapping and process reengineering
• PMP certification or project management experience is a plus
• Experience creating technical documentation, user guides, and instructional materials
• Experience developing screenshots, visual aids, and training documentation
• Familiarity with cost/benefit analysis, ROI analysis, and risk assessment methodologies
