Job Summary
Accelyst is seeking a Governance Analyst to support the growth and maturity of enterprise Data Governance, Information Governance, and AI Governance programs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building structure from ambiguity, improving existing governance capabilities, and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to drive governance adoption across the organization.
The successful candidate will work independently, translating evolving business and regulatory requirements into practical governance processes, documentation, frameworks, and training materials while collaborating with business, IT, privacy, security, and executive stakeholders.
Job Roles & Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement governance processes, workflows, standards, and documentation across Data, Information, and AI Governance initiatives.
- Support governance programs at varying stages of maturity, from enhancing established frameworks to building new governance capabilities from the ground up.
- Translate business, regulatory, and governance requirements into practical processes, templates, policies, and user guides.
- Partner with business leaders, IT teams, Privacy, Security, Risk, and Compliance stakeholders to promote governance adoption and organizational alignment.
- Develop governance documentation, training materials, operating procedures, and communication plans.
- Identify process gaps, recommend improvements, and independently execute governance initiatives with minimal supervision.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings, workshops, and governance discussions across both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Monitor governance activities, document decisions, and support continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities while supporting multiple governance programs simultaneously.
- Assist in developing governance metrics, reporting, and maturity assessments to measure program effectiveness.
- Support enterprise governance initiatives related to data quality, information lifecycle management, AI governance, compliance, and operational excellence.
- Perform additional governance-related responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor''s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Public Administration, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- 5–8 years of experience in Governance, Business Process Improvement, Compliance, IT Business Analysis, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to translate governance, policy, compliance, or regulatory requirements into actionable business processes and documentation.
- Strong analytical, documentation, process mapping, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
- Self-motivated professional capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to build structure from ambiguity and drive initiatives with minimal direction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Data Governance, Information Governance, AI Governance, or related governance programs.
- Experience working within higher education or other large, decentralized organizations.
- Familiarity with governance frameworks, compliance standards, risk management, or enterprise policy development.
- Experience creating governance documentation, operating models, process workflows, training materials, and stakeholder communications.
- Knowledge of enterprise governance, data management, information lifecycle management, or responsible AI principles is highly desirable.
