About This Role
The DC Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) is seeking a highly experienced Facilitator to plan, conduct, and manage meetings so they are productive and focused. You will set agendas, guide discussions, keep sessions on track, manage group dynamics, resolve conflicts, and ensure objectives are met, then summarize decisions and track action items to completion. The role requires a deep understanding of business principles and the ability to communicate complex concepts to stakeholders at all levels. This is a hybrid, 30-hours-per-week role for candidates local to the DMV area, with regular on-site reporting in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities
- Plan, conduct, and manage meetings so they are productive and focused, setting agendas and guiding discussions
- Coordinate with meeting organizers to understand objectives, prepare agendas, and distribute pre-meeting materials
- Serve as master of ceremonies; keep discussions on track, cover all agenda items, and manage group dynamics
- Encourage participation from all attendees, address conflicts, and ensure all viewpoints are heard and considered
- Summarize key discussion points, decisions, and action items; distribute meeting minutes or summaries promptly
- Track progress on action items and follow up as needed
- Gather participant feedback to assess meeting effectiveness and continuously improve facilitation techniques
- Design public town-hall type meetings and other convenings on public policy issues for diverse audiences
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 plus years of experience as a meeting facilitator in the public sector
- Experience providing consulting services to governmental entities or a field of specialization
- Experience designing public town-hall type meetings and other convenings on public policy issues
- Experience working with diverse audiences; compelling and competent public speaker
- Strong conflict-resolution, communication, and interpersonal skills across all stakeholder levels
- Experience in state or local government, preferably within the District of Columbia government
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s or higher preferred)
- Local to the DMV area; able to report on-site in Washington, DC as needed; willing to sign an NDA
