Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Production Artist to support packaging and print execution for consumer-facing products in California. This contract position has the potential to become permanent and is focused on production work rather than concept development, making it ideal for someone who excels at preparing accurate, press-ready files and managing artwork through final output. The right candidate will bring hands-on experience with specialty print treatments and a strong understanding of packaging standards within food and beverage, toy, beauty, or similar consumer packaged goods environments.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and finalize packaging artwork for print, ensuring all files meet production specifications and quality standards.
Build press-ready layouts and mechanical files with careful attention to dimensions, color accuracy, dielines, and vendor requirements.
Apply technical knowledge of specialty finishes such as foil, embossing, varnishes, spot coatings, shrink sleeves, and other print enhancements.
Revise existing creative assets for production use while maintaining brand consistency across multiple product formats.
Partner with internal teams and external print partners to resolve file issues, support approvals, and keep projects moving on schedule.
Manage multiple packaging deliverables at once, tracking updates, version control, and final release details throughout the workflow.
Use design and production software to edit, package, and organize artwork assets for efficient handoff and archive management.
Contribute to project coordination activities using project management platforms when needed to support timelines and team communication.
Requirements
Experience in production art with a strong focus on packaging and print execution.
Demonstrated knowledge of print processes, file setup, and prepress preparation for consumer product packaging.
Hands-on familiarity with specialty print applications, including finishes such as foil, embossing, gloss treatments, inks, and shrink wrap formats.
Background supporting brands in food and beverage, toys, beauty, or another consumer packaged goods category.
Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Creative Cloud tools.
Strong production skills with the ability to manage detailed artwork accurately under deadline pressure.
Experience with Blender is a plus.
Familiarity with project management tools is helpful but not required.
Innovation starts with people.
