Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced
Risk Reporting & Governance Consultant to help modernize and standardize First Line of Defense (FLOD) risk reporting across the enterprise. This individual will play a key role in designing executive and Board-level reporting, improving data quality and governance, and driving automation of risk reporting processes.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience within banking or other highly regulated environments, with a proven ability to transform complex risk data into clear, actionable insights for executives, committees, and regulators.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance and standardize FLOD risk reporting for executive leadership, risk committees, and Board-level stakeholders.
- Develop executive-ready dashboards and reporting that highlight risk trends, emerging risks, escalations, key issues, and performance against established risk metrics.
- Design reporting views that aggregate information across risk programs, including:
- Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSA)
- Issues Management
- Operational Events
- Metric Threshold Breaches
- Regulatory Findings
- Complaints
- Fraud
- Training Compliance
- Build drill-down reporting capabilities across dimensions such as line of business, risk category, regulation, product, control framework, and risk statement.
- Document current-state reporting processes, data sources, ownership structures, and data lineage.
- Identify and implement opportunities to automate data collection, aggregation, dashboard refreshes, and reporting production.
- Develop controls that ensure reporting accuracy, completeness, reconciliation, auditability, and data quality.
- Establish reporting governance processes, escalation procedures, and change management controls.
- Create supporting documentation including operating procedures, RACI matrices, data mapping artifacts, and reporting standards.
- Facilitate stakeholder workshops and working sessions involving business leaders, risk partners, technology teams, and data owners.
- Manage project plans, track milestones and dependencies, and provide regular status updates to leadership.
Expected Deliverables
- Standardized risk reporting framework and executive dashboard designs.
- Committee and Board-level reporting templates with defined governance and escalation processes.
- Data inventory, lineage documentation, and ownership model.
- Automated reporting solutions and dashboard refresh capabilities where feasible.
- Data quality and validation framework, including reconciliations, change controls, and audit support processes.
- Operating procedures, reporting standards, and process documentation.
- Governance and change management materials, including intake processes, testing standards, and approval workflows.
- Project plans, milestone tracking, stakeholder communications, and status reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Experience designing, implementing, or enhancing risk reporting, management reporting, executive dashboards, or committee-level reporting within financial services or another regulated industry.
- Strong experience with data mapping, data lineage, reconciliations, data quality controls, evidence retention, and audit-ready documentation.
- Proficiency with reporting and analytics platforms such as:
- Power BI
- SQL
- Power Platform
- Excel
- SharePoint
- Data Warehouse Solutions
- GRC Platforms
- Ability to translate business and risk requirements into functional specifications, reporting designs, governance documentation, and implementation plans.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage senior business and risk leaders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of First Line of Defense (FLOD) risk management, operational risk, issue management, risk metrics, control testing, and governance processes.
- Experience standardizing reporting across multiple business units or risk domains.
- Experience automating reporting processes and reducing manual reporting activities.
- Familiarity with Board reporting, risk governance frameworks, and regulatory expectations within the banking industry.
- Strong project management skills, including milestone tracking, dependency management, issue escalation, and executive status reporting.
