AI Engineer Banking Domain (Onsite Michigan)
Location: East Lansing, MI or Detroit, MI (Onsite, 5 days/week)
Top Priority Requirement
Seeking Senior AI Engineers (10+ years) with recent banking or financial services experience and strong productionlevel Python development skills. Candidates must have long project tenure, excellent communication skills, and handson experience building and deploying ML/AI solutions in regulated environments.
Relocation is considered; local candidates preferred.
Job Summary
The AI Engineer will design, build, and deploy machine learning and AI-driven solutions supporting enterprise banking initiatives. This role requires deep Python expertise, strong ML/AI experience, and familiarity with banking data, regulatory constraints, and secure production environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML models and pipelines for banking use cases (risk, fraud, underwriting, customer experience, automation).
Write clean, production-grade Python code for data processing, model development, and system integration.
Collaborate with data engineering, IT, and business teams to identify AI/ML opportunities.
Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for model training and inference.
Evaluate, finetune, and deploy ML models and LLM/GenAI solutions.
Ensure compliance with banking security, data privacy, and regulatory standards.
Document model methodology, performance, and monitoring for governance/audit.
Partner with infrastructure teams on deployment, scaling, and monitoring of AI systems.
Required Qualifications
10+ years as an AI/ML Engineer.
Strong Python development (production-level, not just notebooks).
Recent banking or financial services experience must have worked with banking data, systems, or regulatory environments.
Experience with ML/AI frameworks: PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikitlearn, Hugging Face, LangChain, etc.
Solid understanding of data engineering fundamentals (SQL, pipelines, cloud/onprem platforms).
Experience deploying models to production (MLOps, APIs, containerization).
Excellent communication and crossfunctional collaboration skills.
Bachelor s degree in CS, Data Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with LLM/Generative AI in regulated industries.
Familiarity with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
Exposure to model risk management / governance frameworks.
Experience with core banking or lending platforms.
Logistics
Work Arrangement: Fully onsite, 5 days/week (no remote/hybrid).
Locations: East Lansing, MI and Detroit, MI (must be able to work from both as needed).
