Job Description:
The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) requires the assistance of a Senior Automation engineer to help automate and improve the build, deploy and operation of (NC FAST) Applications. The primary role is to lead Automation effort of infrastructure provisioning, build and deploy activities for NC FAST applications. This position must demonstrate a solid understanding of AWS infrastructure and software release life cycle. The role involves creating and maintaining Ansible playbooks, troubleshooting automation issues, ensuring consistent and reliable deployments across environments, and collaborating with DevOps and application teams to enhance CI/CD workflows. Strong knowledge of Linux, Ansible Tower/AWX, YAML, automation best practices, and infrastructure-as-code principles is required. Experience with debugging deployments, validating configurations, and improving release reliability is a plus. The position will work with IT management to improve the software engineering processes and practices associated with continuous integration and Continuous deployment (CI/CD) of application changes. This position will interact with the architects, developers, deployment Team, and Database Administrators to ensure automation of various tasks.

 

Required /Desired Skills:
7 years of Required Experience with automating Linux OS and software patches and upgrades across multiple environments using automations tools like Ansible.
3 years of required hands-on Experience (like branching, merging, configuring, and administering) with BitBucket or GIT Source Code Management tool.
7 years of required hands-on experience in Automating build/deploy process including changes to database using tools like Ansible.
7 years of required experience developing automation scripts, operational utilities, and workflow scripts using Python/Bash/Shell.
2 years of required Experience building and packaging applications with Docker, and managing and scaling containerized workloads using Kubernetes.
4 years of required experience in infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and environment management using Terraform and Ansible
2 years of required hands-on experience developing and managing CI/CD (DevOps) pipeline using tools like Teamcity, Jenkins, Ansible.
2 years of required Strong knowledge and understanding of Amazon web Services and infrastructure.
