Genesis10 is currently seeking a Software Engineer II for a hybrid position (minimum 3 days per week onsite) with a Global Financial Institution located in Plano, TX. This is an 12+ month contract opportunity. This role is for a Unix OS Application Developer with a strong System Administration orientation, responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. The successful candidate will code solutions, perform unit tests, and ensure successful integration into the overall application and system. This position involves complex application integration development between multiple applications within a larger virtual team.
Responsibilities: - Contribute to story refinement and defining requirements
- Participate and guide the team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle
- Perform spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
- Code solutions and unit tests to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
- Utilize multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in the design and development of client requirements
- Assist the team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work
- Contribute to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance), analyze test reports, identify any test issues/errors, and triage the underlying cause
- Document and communicate required information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality
- Participate in and contribute to delivery/release (CI/CD) events (e.g., branching timelines, pull requests, issue triage, merge/conflict resolution, release notes)
Requirements: - 3-5 years of experience in a similar role
- Advanced knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems
- Server management experience (Monitor/Tune performance, cron jobs, hardware fault troubleshooting, backups)
- Software/application management experience (Installing, Testing and Patching)
- Account management experience (Adding/Removing user accounts and controlling privileges)
- Security management experience (Host-based firewalls, file permissions, security configurations)
- Proficient in PERL and Unix shell scripting
- Networking knowledge (iptables, ssh, scp, ifconfig, rsync, NFS, NIS, Samba)
- Knowledge of other tools and files such as syslog, sudo, systemd/init, df, fsck, /etc/hosts, /etc/passwd, ps and /proc
Desired skills: - Knowledge of FreeBSD is a plus
- Ingenuity and creativity
- A logical approach to problem solving and analytical capabilities
- The ability to work well under pressure
- Experience with Agile development and project management methodologies
- Detail-oriented with tenacity and patience
Pay range: $38.14 - $46.14 per hour
