Job Title: Data Analyst – Power BI & Data Modeling
Location: Alberta, Canada (Hybrid – Remote within Alberta-Primarily remote with occasional onsite meetings)
Type: Contract
Pay rate - $40/hr CAD on Incorporation
Role Overview:
We are hiring a Data Analyst with strong analytical, data modeling, and Power BI expertise to support environmental monitoring and regulatory data initiatives within a large-scale government environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Validate canonical data elements and Unified Business Object (UBO) model assumptions
• Analyze environmental and regulatory datasets to support business operations
• Identify data quality issues, inconsistencies, and edge cases
• Develop Power BI reports, dashboards, and analytical views
• Support enterprise data architecture and analytical validation initiatives
• Conduct trend analysis, aggregation validation, and reporting scalability assessments
Required Qualifications:
• Degree or diploma in Business, IT, Data Analytics, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in business and data-focused analysis
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with advanced Power BI development
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Experience working with large and complex datasets
Nice to Have:
• Experience leading workshops and stakeholder discussions
• Experience with data governance and standards
• Government, regulatory, or environmental domain experience
Work Environment:
• Hybrid role within Alberta
• Primarily remote with occasional onsite meetings
• Candidates must work remotely from within Alberta
