Summary

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is searching for a Solar Construction Supervisor for a contract assignment with one of our premier utility services clients in Apollo Beach, FL.

Responsibilities:
Manage, direct, and coordinate construction activities for plant projects, maintenance activities, and outage work.
Provide direction, supervision, and coordination for assigned construction projects.
Ensure safety, quality, work progress, contractor performance, cost, and schedule requirements are achieved across all assigned projects.
Determine contract methodology and oversee multiple construction contracts simultaneously.
Provide constructability input during the project design phase.
Determine supervision and contractor field resource requirements. Review contractor craft manpower plans to ensure appropriate and efficient staffing levels are maintained.
Identify and address personnel development needs for direct reports.
Assist Project Management in developing and maintaining relationships with plant personnel, management teams, contractors, construction companies, and senior leadership.
Assist Project Management in reviewing and recommending approval or rejection of contract extras/change orders while ensuring coordination with the Project Controls group.
Coordinate storm preparedness and restoration activities for assigned project areas.

Supervision:
Direct Supervision: Construction supervisors and/or contracted supervisors.
Indirect Supervision: Contractor management personnel, varying in number up to 400 individuals.

Relationships:
Internal Relationships: Frequent interaction with Directors, General Managers, Project Managers, and employees throughout the Energy Supply organization.
External Relationships: Direct interface with contractors, vendors, suppliers, and engineering teams.

Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 10-15 years of related construction, industrial, utility, or power generation experience OR 12+ years of related experience in power plant operations or maintenance.
Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or construction leadership experience.
Prior experience supporting utility-scale solar power plant construction projects required.
Strong knowledge of construction codes, standards, construction management practices, and contractor oversight.
Proven experience managing multiple projects, priorities, schedules, and strategic initiatives simultaneously.
Demonstrated success leading teams and driving projects to achieve safety, quality, and operational goals.
Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
Ability to facilitate and manage organizational change within a large operational environment.
Experience working with industrial or utility safety programs.
Travel required, including occasional air travel and frequent travel to project sites in Polk and Manatee Counties.

Working Conditions:
Ability to respond to plant and project needs requiring 24/7 support coverage.
Frequent travel from home office to active solar construction project sites in Polk and Manatee Counties.
Regular outdoor work in hot, humid, wet, cold, and other variable environmental conditions.
Work performed within active power generation and industrial construction environments.
Exposure to elevated noise areas requiring hearing protection.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent walking, bending, climbing stairs, and navigating active construction sites throughout the workday.
Ability to work from elevated platforms while utilizing required fall protection equipment.
Ability to enter and exit confined spaces and tight work areas as required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Building Construction, or related field preferred.
Prior managerial experience supporting heavy industrial construction, utility construction, renewable energy projects, or large-scale project management environments preferred.
