Summary

 

- Assists IPI Supervisors / Managers in the management and usage of IPI systems. Verifies workload-to-system/user, and suggests equipment and software needs and requirements.

- Continual analysis of current DOC/IPI-Wide network resources, performance, and deficiencies. Develop consistent methods of both informing management of potential problems, as well as proposing specific steps (i.e. procedure changes, new software or hardware) for improvement.

- Research and develop proposals for future network and information systems growth and changes. This includes providing recommendations for hardware, software, as well as procedural changes and the evaluation of potential hardware or software.

- During the procurement process this position is responsible for evaluating alternatives preparing detailed product specs and making recommendations to management. They are responsible for coordinating the purchasing process. This position is responsible when the product is received to ensure that it is received as ordered. Also responsible for ensuring that any required maintenance or warranty plans are in place as well as registration of any hardware or software.

- Developing, implementing and maintaining a maintenance schedule for all systems and documentation of activities.

- Developing, implementing and maintaining a contingency plan for CPU and systems backups, servers and routers.

- Responsible for maintaining and updating IPI Security Policy.

- Responsible for developing and maintaining computer usage monitoring system. Also responsible for

maintaining internal controls for system access.

- Responsible for maintaining computer hardware list. This list is used as a basis for development of tracking of all computer related expenses as well as a planning tool for determining what additional hardware is needed.

- This position is responsible for working with consultants as necessary for larger, highly technical projects, monitoring the progress, and complete documentation of the project.

 

This position is responsible for maintenance both onsite and remotely of servers located in multiple DOC and independent facilities.

- Responsible for maintenance of computer equipment for all locations and functional areas of IPI.

- This position is responsible for maintaining some of the auxiliary systems (such as Tourism) or programs (such as Auto Cad).

- This position is responsible for the maintenance of both the LAN and WAN networks. This includes such items as archival and backup maintenance; virus program updates, and system checks and reboots; troubleshooting end user problems and technical support; day to day moves, adds and changes; work station set ups; and user maintenance.

- This position is also responsible for the installation and testing of new hardware or software and upgrades. Hardware includes (this is not complete list): multiple netservers, multiple PCs – both staff and inmate usage, labor collection stations, Cisco switches and routers, multiple printers (or various makes and models). (Note: Additional more detailed specs on current hardware or software is available if requested)

- Prepare network diagrams of connectivity. Diagrams to be used for investigative, emergency recovery, discovery, and planning purposes.

 

- This position must be knowledgeable regarding all software programs in order to provide assistance and direction, answer questions, and investigate and solve problems for all levels and in all areas (business, sales and manufacturing) of IPI Staff.

- This position is responsible for training and scheduling staff in the performance of operations, procedures and uses of software applications including the Global Accounting and Manufacturing system.

-This position prepares written and oral instructions to guide the operation of the information system, as well as conducting training sessions for all IPI staff a required.

- This position tests programs by processing sample data to compare output with expected output.

IPI uses a fully integrated accounting and manufacturing software that allows for the seamless integration of purchasing, manufacturing, costing, shipping and invoicing. Evaluate and develop alternative methods when necessary.

- Communicate complex and technical problems to less experienced staff. Suggest alternative methods and train staff in program techniques and programming.
