The Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing production, assembly, maintenance, and operational processes related to manufacturing, fleet equipment, or heavy-duty vehicle production. This role ensures production targets, quality standards, safety requirements, and cost objectives are achieved while leading teams to maximize efficiency and continuous improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and direct daily manufacturing and production activities.
- Manage production schedules to meet delivery requirements.
- Supervise production supervisors, technicians, assemblers, and support staff.
- Monitor productivity, labor utilization, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, environmental, and company safety standards.
- Implement lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and waste reduction initiatives.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, maintenance, and logistics teams.
- Maintain quality control standards for truck components, assemblies, and finished vehicles.
- Analyze production data and develop corrective actions to improve performance.
- Manage departmental budgets and control manufacturing costs.
- Support preventive maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime.
- Train, coach, and evaluate employee performance.
- Ensure compliance with and regulatory requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
- Experience with manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of management experience in manufacturing, trucking, heavy equipment, automotive, or transportation industries.
- Strong knowledge of production planning, quality systems, six sigma, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing reporting systems.
