Description:
Engineering Technician
Location: Fargo, ND
Duration: 24 months with possible extension
Job Functions
  • Spend approximately 60-70% of the role working on a PC, utilizing TAKAYA APT-1600FD software to create and modify flying probe inspection programs.
  • Perform inspection, testing, and failure analysis to identify causes of defective electronic assemblies.
  • Research, collect, and summarize data to support root cause analysis.
  • Rework electronic products in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Design and build test harnesses, loads, fixtures, circuit boards, and engineering test boxes to support product development.
  • Conduct manual testing of electronic circuits and PCBs based on engineering instructions.
  • Create, update, and maintain test documentation, particularly for prototype and development products.
  • Document all work performed and maintain accurate test and repair records.
  • Identify process or design issues, communicate findings to engineering and supervision, and assist with corrective actions.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with internal teams and external customers.
  • Support additional technical tasks as assigned by supervisors and engineers.
Required Education
  • Associate degree in Electronics, a two-year technical diploma, equivalent military electronics training, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in electronics, manufacturing, engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience preferred.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Proven experience troubleshooting PCB sub-assembly failures and determining root cause.
  • Solid understanding of electronic components and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with electronic test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering schematics, diagrams, and datasheets.
  • Skilled in assembling, disassembling, maintaining, and repairing electronic products and lab equipment.
  • Comfortable learning and using advanced computer applications.
  • Ability to research, analyze, organize, and summarize technical data.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient with personal computers, spreadsheets, and word-processing software.
Preferred Skills
  • 3+ years hands-on experience troubleshooting PCB sub-assembly failure modes.
  • 3+ years hands-on soldering experience with fine-pitch surface-mount components.
  • 3+ years experience using electronic test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
  • Experience operating and maintaining 3D printers.
  • Familiarity with printed circuit board (PCB) layout.
  • Experience machining or modifying materials such as aluminum, steel, plastics, and fiberglass.
  • Experience with advanced test equipment (logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc.).
