Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Flink Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in building, maintaining, and enhancing Apache Flink applications and VM-based cloud infrastructure and a proven ability to design and operate scalable, fault-tolerant, real-time streaming solutions across AWS and Google Cloud Platform.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain real-time streaming applications using Apache Flink.
- Build new Flink pipelines and enhance existing jobs for reliability, performance, and scalability.
- Implement stateful stream processing, windowing, event-time processing, and checkpointing.
- Optimize job performance including memory management and parallelism settings.
- Deploy, configure, and manage Flink clusters in VM environments such as GCE and EC2.
- Tune JVM performance and resource allocation for distributed VM-based architectures.
- Design high-availability cluster configurations and troubleshoot cluster and job issues.
- Build and manage Flink on AWS and Google Cloud Platform, integrating with cloud-native storage and messaging.
- Implement cross-cloud monitoring, logging, and cost optimization.
- Integrate Flink with Kafka, Pub/Sub, Kinesis, and downstream analytics systems.
- Ensure exactly-once processing guarantees and schema governance.
- Implement checkpointing, recovery, secure cloud configurations, and CI/CD for deployments.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 5+ years in distributed systems and data engineering.
- 3+ years of hands-on Apache Flink development in production.
- Proven experience deploying and managing Flink in VM-based environments.
- Proficiency in Java or Scala for Flink development.
- Experience with Kafka, Pub/Sub, or Kinesis and event-driven architectures.
- Hands-on experience with AWS and Google Cloud Platform services for compute, storage, and streaming.
- Experience tuning JVM-based distributed applications.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience managing large-scale, high-throughput streaming systems.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes in VM-backed clusters.
- Experience implementing exactly-once processing semantics.
- AWS or Google Cloud Platform cloud certifications.
- Experience with data lake architectures and real-time analytics platforms.
