IT Infrastructure Engineer

Role Summary
An experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer is sought to design, implement, and maintain enterprise server and virtualization infrastructure supporting critical business systems. This role requires a high level of technical expertise in Cisco UCS environments, VMware virtualization, and hybrid cloud integrations, with a focus on ensuring high availability, scalability, and security. The position involves leading infrastructure projects, supporting enterprise Unified Communications systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technological solutions with organizational objectives.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain on-premises Cisco UCS infrastructure managed through Intersight, UCS Manager, and UCS Central.
• Architect and support hybrid cloud environments integrating Azure services such as Virtual Machines, Storage Accounts, and Azure Container Instances (ACI).
• Lead large-scale infrastructure projects, including server migrations, datacenter moves, firmware/ESXi upgrades, hardware refreshes, and decommissioning.
• Configure and optimize VMware virtualization environments (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, vRealize Automation/Aria) for performance, high availability, and scalability.
• Serve as a subject matter expert supporting enterprise Unified Communications systems, including Cisco CUCM, Unity, UCCX, and PCCE.
• Develop and enforce infrastructure standards, build templates, and documentation for deployment processes.
• Design and implement backup, monitoring, and disaster recovery solutions across extensive server infrastructures.
• Improve infrastructure visibility and operational efficiency using tools such as Intersight, Active IQ, SolarWinds, and Splunk.
• Mentor team members and facilitate effective cross-team communication through technical guidance and regular meetings.
• Manage vendor relationships and hardware support for FlexPod, Cisco MDS, Nexus 9K, and related technologies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in enterprise IT infrastructure engineering with a focus on Cisco UCS environments and server virtualization.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco UCS B-Series, C-Series, and X-Series servers, including familiarity with Fabric Interconnects.
• Strong knowledge of VMware virtualization technology (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN).
• Experience integrating hybrid cloud platforms, specifically Microsoft Azure, with on-prem infrastructure.
• Familiarity with NetApp storage solutions (ONTAP, AFF series) and FlexPod architecture.
• Supporting Unified Communications systems with Cisco CUCM, Unity, UCCX/PCCE is preferred.
• Proficiency in enterprise monitoring and management tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk, and ServiceNow.
• Proven experience managing large infrastructure modernization projects across multiple sites.
• Strong documentation, mentoring, and cross-team communication skills.
• Availability to work remotely with appropriate technical setup and correct working rights.

Publishing Pay Range: $55.00 - $60.00 USD Hourly
This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
