Workday Project Test Lead

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Workday Test Lead to lead testing activities across Workday applications, enhancements, integrations, and business process changes. This individual will be responsible for developing test strategies, coordinating testing efforts, managing test execution, tracking defects, and ensuring solutions meet business requirements and quality standards before deployment.
The ideal candidate will combine strong Workday testing expertise with proven test leadership, stakeholder management, and test planning skills. Experience with automated testing tools is a plus, particularly Opkey, which can help improve test coverage, repeatability, and overall testing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end testing activities for Workday implementations, enhancements, integrations, configuration changes, and periodic releases.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, and test cases aligned with business requirements.
- Establish testing schedules, priorities, resource plans, and entry and exit criteria.
- Coordinate functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Ensure appropriate test coverage across impacted Workday business processes and integrations.
- Monitor testing progress, identify risks and dependencies, and communicate status, issues, and recommendations to project leadership.
- Lead testing across relevant Workday functional areas, such as Human Capital Management (HCM), Payroll, Benefits, Recruiting, Financial Management, and other applicable modules.
- Validate Workday business processes, workflows, security roles, reporting, data conversions, and system configurations.
- Develop and execute test scenarios covering business requirements, positive and negative testing, exception handling, and cross-functional dependencies.
- Coordinate test execution across business users, functional teams, technical teams, and other testing resources.
- Track test cases, execution results, defects, and remediation activities using established test management tools.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience leading testing efforts for Workday applications, implementations, enhancements, or ongoing support.
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, including functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, and user acceptance testing.
- Experience developing test strategies, test plans, test cases, test scenarios, and traceability documentation.
- Proven ability to coordinate testing activities across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Experience managing test execution, defect tracking, issue triage, and testing status reporting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Opkey for Workday automated testing.
- Experience with other test automation tools and frameworks.
- Workday certification or relevant Workday functional training.
- Experience testing Workday integrations, reports, security configurations, and business process workflows.
